e4ced412bb Bug 973090 - IPC remoting for child GC/CC logging. r=mccr8, r=bent 
This has a few semi-interdependent pieces:

* Factoring out the file opening/closing/renaming from the GC/CC logging.

* Using IPC to have the child log to files that the parent opened.

* Changing nsIMemoryInfoDumper.dumpGCAndCCLogsToFile to report completion
  of child process logging (which was impossible before this, and which is
  needed to have a meaningful test case).

* Changing about:memory to dump logs for child processes, matching the
  behavior of the "Measure" button, because it can tell the user where
  they are now.

* Add a test for multiprocess GC/CC log dumping (only of the XPCOM
  interface, not by clicking buttons and scraping the about:memory page,
  but done as a chrome mochitest to start remote browsers); based on
  test_memoryReporters2.xul in the same directory.

ContentParent::GetNewOrUsed() initialize the ContentParent always, even it is an
initialized one from PreallocatedProcessManager::Take(). Initialize twice makes
ContentParent to receive two the same observed event, and creates leak in both
observer list and itself.

76ab6d796b Bug 946407 - Reimplement DumpMemoryInfoToTempDir in terms of GetReports. r=njn 
This winds up exposing things in the nsIMemoryReporterManager interface
that arguably don't belong at that level of abstraction -- "minimize
memory usage first" and DMD -- in order to take advantage of the
infrastructure that GetReports already has for managing the child
processes.

32e25ae5f6 Bug 899761 - Fix a debug-build shutdown crash in ContentParent. r=khuey 
Sometimes a ContentParent object gets destroyed after XPCOM shutdown has
shut down the cycle collector.  If the ContentParent destructor releases
a cycle collected object (e.g. mMessageManager), this causes the cycle
collector to assert.

This change reworks how TabContext stores its data.  Before, it stored
an app-id and translated that into an app; now we do the reverse.  This
lets us guarantee that HasOwnApp() is true iff GetOwnApp() is non-null.

We added a new class, MaybeInvalidTabContext to assist with converting
from an IPCTabContext to a TabContext.  This allows us to ensure that a
TabContext object is never invalid.

545d682d16 Bug 893242 - Part 3: Add ContentParent::GetAllEvenIfDead(). r=bent 
To do this, we got rid of the explicit removal of a ContentParent from
sContentParents in MarkAsDead().  Instead, we rely on
LinkedListElement's destructor to remove the ContentParent from
sContentParents.

Thus, a ContentParent stays in sContentParents until it's destructed.
ContentParent::GetAll() checks whether the ContentParent is still alive,
so its behavior is unchanged.

21412f80a2 Bug 893242 - Part 2: Make sContentParents a StaticAutoPtr. r=khuey 
This eliminates a static constructor, which is good.  It also avoids a
problem at shutdown: If we leak a ContentParent and we destroy
sContentParents atexit, then sContentParents will assert that it's not
empty and cause test failures.

c73b99561e Bug 844323 - Part 1: Move process preallocation logic out of ContentParent and into a new file, PreallocatedProcessManager. r=bent 
Also make the PreallocatedProcessManager respond to pref changes.  This allows us to write a test involving the preallocated process.  Making this change was the main motivation for this patch; I moved the logic out of ContentParent because with the pref-watching code it was becoming unweildy.

a2a06aa787 Bug 836654 - Part 9: During app-frame creation, take the CPU wake lock only after sending down the mozapptype. r=cjones 
This prevents the child process from downgrading its CPU priority when
it notices that it has the CPU wake lock but no "critical" frames.

In this patch we also reduce the scope of a race condition which occurs
when we don't launch a new process for an app.  In this case, we still
need to set the child process's priority and then check that the process
is still alive.

Because this isn't a brand-new process, it's possible that the process
will downgrade its priority (e.g. due to a timer) after we check that
it's still alive and before it notices that we've acquired the CPU wake
lock on its behalf.  This patch does not resolve that race.

I also modified Tab{Parent,Child} and nsFrameLoader to call "app" "ownOrContainingApp", to emphasize that we might have inherited the app from a parent process.  I left nsIDocShell::appId alone, because changing that would have necessitated changing nsILoadGroup and therefore a /lot/ of users in Necko; it's also not clear it would have clarified anything in those cases.

f4b598bf08 Bug 722872 - Part 1: Add nsITransferable::Init(nsILoadContext*), enforce that it's called in debug builds, and add nsIDOMDocument* arguments to nsIClipboardHelper methods; r=roc 
This patch does the following:

* It adds nsITransferable::Init(nsILoadContext*).  The load context
  might be null, which means that the transferable is non-private, but
  if it's non-null, we extract the boolean value for the privacy mode
  and store it in the transferable.
* It adds checks in debug builds to make sure that Init is always
  called, in form of fatal assertions.
* It adds nsIDOMDocument* agruments to nsIClipboardHelper methods which
  represent the document that the string is coming from.
  nsIClipboardHelper implementation internally gets the nsILoadContext
  from that and passes it on to the transferable upon creation.  The
  reason that I did this was that nsIClipboardHelper is supposed to be a
  high-level helper, and in most of its call sites, we have easy access
  to a document object.
* It modifies all of the call sites of the above interfaces according to
  this change.
* It adds a GetLoadContext helper to nsIDocument to help with changing
  the call sites.
