33178fcdc7 Bug 1417473 - Implement the hybrid content telemetry API. r=chutten,Gijs 
This enables whitelisted pages to send messages to the chrome using
asynchronous messaging from the content. This patch only adds the

9006d66671 Bug 1422903 - Prevent about:privatebrowsing favicon from flickering. r=florian 
We apply a custom workaround to show about:home and about:newtab favicons
as early as possible for perceived performance, but didn't previously consider

f735328150 Bug 1409301 - Update the site security subview to the Photon style. r=johannh 
The site security subview is now implemented using the "photonpanelmultiview" element, replacing the last instance of the "panelmultiview" element. The subview features a standard Photon header, hence the connection state icon was moved to the element below it. This makes the styles more similar between the main view and the subview. The connection state styles are now applied using a class name, and the tests have been updated accordingly.

This change required some fixes in the "photonpanelmultiview" implementation to make sure the height of the subview is correct and to allow keyboard navigation back to the main view.

Since the expander button and the permission controls in the main view are not visible anymore after the subview is shown, some code related to focus and hover could be removed as well.

0e002bccbd Bug 1409259 - Add a console warning for soon-to-be-distrusted roots r=keeler,ttaubert 
This patch adds a new diagnostic status flag to nsIWebProgressListener,
STATE_CERT_DISTRUST_IMMINENT, which indicates that the certificate chain is
going to change validity due to an upcoming distrust event. The first of
these events is this bug, affecting various roots from Symantec.

The STATE_CERT_DISTRUST_IMMINENT flag is set by nsNSSCallbacks and passed,
via nsSecureBrowserUIImpl, to browser.js where it is used to alert the console.

Adding this sort of diagnostic printing to be accessible to browser.js is a
long-desired goal, as future functionality can start doing more decision-making
there. We may, for example, also want to degrade the lock icon, which will be
straightforward with this flag.

This commit does not implement the IsCertificateDistrustImminent method. That is
follow-on work.

Setting an icon for the tab and storing that icon in Places are now separate actions.
Before bug 1401777 setIcon was doing both, but that was error-prone and more expensive.
Due to that change, useDefaultIcon stopped storing root domain favicons in Places.

1e2c41849c Bug 1402493 - Don't prevent switching back to Reload for top level about: loads. r=Gijs 
In the steps to reproduce of this bug, we get see a load start for about:blank that is not top level. We then see a following load complete (STATE_STOP) that has aWebProgress.isTopLevel=true. This code is really here to prevent flickering from reload->stop->reload for about:home and other about: pages. I don't see any harm in being more agressive when switching back to Reload since that is the default state.

ec416a2990 Bug 1353013 - Be less aggressive about preloading about:newtab. r=florian 
Based on a patch that Dão Gottwald <dao+bmo@mozilla.com> wrote.

We used to preload about:newtab as soon as a tab had finished being opened,
which meant that the first opened tab was _never_ preloaded, and that we
risked janking the browser immediately after the user opened a new tab
(which is, arguably, the worst time to do it, since the user is probably
about to navigate that tab somewhere).

This patch makes it so that about:newtab is preloaded after:

1) 1 second of user inactivity, and
2) When we have at least 40ms of idle time to spend in an idle callback.

The 1s and 40ms thresholds were chosen arbitrarily, and we might tune them
over time.

08ac1de819 Bug 1357589: Part 1 - Use the correct default remote type for content-created tabs/windows. r=mconley r=mystor 
When creating new windows/tabs from the content process, we currently choose
the default remote type based on the referrer URI, rather than the actual
remote type of the opener. While this generally works, it fails when opening
windows from URLs (particularly in iframes) which are opened in process types
other than their default process type, since the initial about:blank load gets
redirected to a new process before the child process has a chance to load its
actual target URI.

Using the actual remote type of the child opening the window fixes this
problem for URLs which are capable of being loaded into the child's process
type.

64170b63af Bug 1386445 - Early about:newtab pages are missing message APIs because RemotePages registers too late. r=mossop 
This moves AboutNewTab.init from nsBrowserGlue.js handling of "browser-delayed-startup-finished" into aboutNewTabService.js so that when the service is loaded once from the main thread probably by browser.js towards the beginning of _delayedStartup just before potentially calling gBrowser.loadTabs, the service triggers the attaching of RemotePages(about:newtab) before any about:newtab pages load.

Additionally even when RemotePages starts early enough, Activity Stream might not borrow the RemotePages instance early enough to catch the RemotePage:Load message, so to simulate that, RemotePages now remembers when a port has been loaded for consumers to check. Adds tests to confirm the expected properties on the port and value of loaded at the various RemotePage:* messages.

b9f5336377 Bug 1378784 - Listen for TextZoomChange in addition to the FullZoomChange events to update the zoom UI when the zoom changes. r=dao 
We were already listening for FullZoomChange. TextZoomChange is very similar, but is only triggered when the user has chosen 'Zoom Text Only' from the View > Zoom menu.

5318fa431d Bug 1390579 - Check if aRequest is an instanceof nsIRequest instead of just a simple null check since when switching tabs aRequest is an Object that maintains some of the request details. r=Gijs 
I also changed the code to update the timeWhenSwitchedToStop so if pages continue to load long after the tab switch we will still show the animation when the page has finished loading.

b9c12b59fb Bug 1367012 - update edit UI visibility checks for photon, r=mikedeboer 
This ensures we update edit UI visibility state when opening/closing the
overflow panel, as well as ensuring we do so if/when the edit controls
get over/underflowed. It then updates the test to ensure we correctly
check the overflow panel, both for overflown items and for items
put there by the user when photon is enabled.

Add a Send to Device subview to the page action panel.  When the page isn't
sendable, disable the Send to Device menu item.  When the user doesn't have any
devices, show a menu item that opens the Firefox Account preferences pane.

Generalize gSync.populateSendTabToDevicesMenu() so that it can be used to
populate any kind of container, not only a menupopup with menuitems.

Add an SVG that shows a phone and an SVG that shows a desktop.

33ebc4466d Bug 1009116 - Redo resizing architecture of panelmultiview. r=Gijs 
The height of the "panelmultiview" binding is now determined by the stack layout code, and doesn't have to be calculated manually via JavaScript anymore. This allows the removal of mutation and overflow observers, and reduces the number of synchronous layouts being made.

There is still a workaround included for wrapping blocks not being taken into account in height calculations.

82301632cc Bug 1359733 - (pt. 2) Refactor gMenuButtonUpdateBadge r=rstrong 
Since we now have a store of notifications that is global across
all windows, it no longer makes sense to consume the API from
within browser.js. This patch moves the browser.js logic out into
a jsm file that is wired up through nsBrowserGlue, such that it
will be lazily instantiated on the first update event it would
receive[1].

We decided to move this into toolkit, as this piece of the
system is fairly generic and shouldn't differ between
applications.

[1]: There is a change to nsBrowserGlue to use "global[module]"
instead of this[module]. This mirrors the code for all the other
types of notifications, and I suspect it was just a latent bug,
since the original diff that includes this line makes no use of
it.

10877e266b Bug 1355890 - Add visual cue to urlbar when under remote control r=Gijs 
This patch adds a visual UX cue to visually distinguish the user agent
sessions that are under remote control from those used for normal
browsing sessions.  The new hue helps the user identify windows that
are under automation.

browser/base/content/browser.js will now query Marionette to find out if
the remote protocol is running when starting a new <xul:browser>.

The remote-control system notification will also be sent when the
Marionette remote protocol is running, activating any already opened
<xul:browser>s.  The message is sent from testing/marionette/server.js.

b1275c271a Bug 1362212 - Remove canPlayTelemetry from _delayedStartup. r=dao 
Calling HTMLMediaElement.canPlayType() on the main thread will cause
us to do disk I/O to load system decoding libraries, so we shouldn't
do it on the main thread, let alone on the parent process' main thread.

I moved the telemetry into an idle service observer off main thread
into Gecko in the previous patch.

e3a114f978 Bug 1363215 - Replace calls to __define{Getter,Setter}__ on top-level this with Object.defineProperty. r=Gijs 
__define{Getter,Setter}__ are deprecated, and are not defined on
NonSyntacticVariablesObjects, so these calls get in the way of sharing
globals between different .jsms. Probably only the DownloadUtils.jsm
change is really needed for that.

configurable and enumerable are both set to true to match the existing
behavior. If enumerable is set to false, then tests fail, because some
of the getters overwrite the getter with a regular property.

1cec8e74d5 Bug 1332386 - Create extra print preview browser when using Simplify Page option. r=mconley 
This patch creates a new print preview browser to host the simplified cloned-document
when Simplify Page option is used on preview. Also, this patch keeps track of what browser
should be presented, based on whether the 'Simplify page' checkbox is checked.
