da7fa43d4a Bug 1809084 - Stop using XUL layout for menu popups. r=desktop-theme-reviewers,dao,dshin
The underlying issue here is an invalidation bug with XUL layout. When a
popup opens, we try to lay it out at full size, then post a reflow
callback to constrain it.

There's an intermediate step there where the popup might remain at full
size, and the constraining operates directly on mRect, which isn't quite
sound and doesn't update the scrollport of descendants.

Make nsMenuPopupFrame inherit from nsBlockFrame instead, doing
potentially two layout passes when constrained.

This fixes the issue at hand, and removes XUL layout from menu popups,
so it's a win-win.

To make reasoning about it a bit easier, factor out a bunch of the XUL
positioning code to be const. The mutation of mRect etc which was going
on otherwise was pretty hard to reason about.

nsBlockFrame clears its line cursor at the beginning of reflow.

This test-case triggers a mix of conditions where a line iterator /

nsListControlFrame::DidReflow triggering scrolling:

Move the scrolling to happen at a stable state instead.

5c7c22165f Bug 1811311 - Part 1: Unite baseline-related functions in nsIFrame into one. r=emilio
Before, there existed 3 virtual functions that calculated baselines:

- `GetLogicalBaseline`
- `GetVerticalAlignBaseline`
- `GetNaturalBaselineBOffset`

Each of them had slightly different behaviours:

- `GetLogicalBaseline` would synthesize a baseline if there is no baseline.
  Others would simply return `false`.
- `GetNaturalBaselineBOffset` requires the caller to pick which of first/last
  baseline to calculate. Others pick on on their own.
- `GetNaturalBaselineBOffset`'s result can be either offset from border box
   start/end edge, depending on the caller-supplied baseline. Others always
   return offset from border box start edge.

Now:

- `GetNaturalBaselineBOffset` is the sole virtual function.
- `GetLogicalBaseline` exists to support its use, with 2 virtual helper functions:
  - `SynthesizeFallbackBaseline` to generate a baseline for elements that
    doesn't have one.
  - `GetBaselineSharingGroup` to preserve the default baseline picking behaviour.

This patch is first generated by the following script under gecko root folder.

```
#!/bin/bash
function rename() {
    echo "Renaming $1 to $2"
    rg -l "$1" | xargs sed -i -E -e s/"$1"/"$2"/g
}
b8d58c68d0 Bug 1777135 - Part 1: make nsPresContext::DefaultBackgroundColor account for default-background color-scheme. r=dholbert
And remove one unused caller.
This might change behavior of some selection contrast checks and backplating
which will potentially use the right background-color after this patch. The
next patch ensures this is also accounted for for scrollbars.
Unfortunately selection contrast checks are non-trivial to test because we only
do the contrast check with system colors, and we'd need a default selection
color close to the highlight color to do this.
b651bfe99a Bug 1744009 - Simplify combobox <select> code. r=mconley,dholbert
With this patch on its own we get some a11y tests failures, but those
are fixed on a later patch.
Combobox select no longer creates frames for its <options>, nor an
nsListControlFrame. Instead, it computes its right intrinsic size using
the largest size of the options. This is better, because we render the
option text using the select style so if the select and option styles
are mismatched it'd cause changes in the size of the select when text
changes. See the following in a build without the patch, for example:
  <select>
    <option>ABC</option>
    <option style="font-size: 1px">Something long</option>
  </select>
This seems like a rather obscure case, but it's important to get it
right, see bug 1741888.
With this patch we use the same setup in content and parent processes
(this needs bug 1596852 and bug 1744152). This means we can remove a
bunch of the native view and popup code in nsListControlFrame. A couple
browser_* tests are affected by this change and have been tweaked
appropriately (the changes there are trivial).
Not creating an nsListControlFrame for dropdown select means that we
need to move a bunch of the event handling code from nsListControlFrame
to a common place that nsComboboxControlFrame can also use. That place
is HTMLSelectEventListener, and I think the setup is much nicer than
having the code intertwined with nsListControlFrame. It should be
relatively straight-forward to review, mostly moving code from one part
to another.
Another thing that we need to do in HTMLSelectEventListener that we
didn't use to do is listening for DOM mutations on the dropdown. Before,
we were relying on changes like text mutations triggering a reflow of
the listcontrolframe, which also triggered a reflow of the
comboboxcontrolframe, which in turn updated the text of the anonymous
content. Now we need to trigger that reflow manually.
There are some further simplifications that can be done after this
lands (cleanup naming of openInParentProcess and so on, among others),
but I'd rather land this first (after the merge of course) and work on
them separately.
54fd961a29 Bug 1641245 - Make string comparators not virtual. r=froydnj,necko-reviewers,geckoview-reviewers,jgilbert,agi,valentin
There's no use case for stateful comparators, so they can be just plain
function pointers.
This is used in some hot places like CSS selector matching.
9a760db959 Bug 1626386 - Convert ui.menu.incremental_search.timeout to a static pref r=emilio
Converts `ui.menu.incremental_search.timeout` to a static pref and replaces macros related to the incremental search timeout with the actual pref, so that they are kept in sync without the need to manually update any macros. The two `.xml` files mentioned in the note were nowhere to be found, so this patch makes the assumption that those do not exist anymore and do not need to be kept in sync.
cd014b922b Bug 1629096 - Honor scroll-padding / margin in ns{ListControl,MenuPopup}Frame. r=hiro
Kinda drive-by, but I think this is sane and not risky... This is used for
<select size> / <select multiple>, and only scrolls the option into view (it
only scrolls a single scroll frame, the one inside the <select>).
If the author specifies scroll-padding / margin in there I don't see why we
shouldn't respect it when doing key selection / navigation / etc.
Same for menupopups (though those are even less risky because we control the CSS
there).
8b1032cdc9 Bug 40545 - Options to use label attribute when present r=emilio,jfkthame,mats
According to spec, option elements with label attributes should show and use
those labels rather than their element text. So let's do that.
Requires some trickery because the option element is a block element (so it
lays out its width based on its text content) so we put its label (if it has
one) in its ::before and skip frame generation so it measures the text of its
label, not of its text node children.
The inclusions were removed with the following very crude script and the
resulting breakage was fixed up by hand. The manual fixups did either
revert the changes done by the script, replace a generic header with a more
specific one or replace a header with a forward declaration.
find . -name "*.idl" | grep -v web-platform | grep -v third_party | while read path; do
    interfaces=$(grep "^\(class\|interface\).*:.*" "$path" | cut -d' ' -f2)
